seniors in the schools

I would like to see an adopt-a-grandparent program in the schools in Lenexa. They could work on tutoring things or whatever deemed appropriate but I think it would be nice to engage the senior citizens with the elementary students especially. I think the community as a whole would benefit and of course, it would be great for the kids and the seniors.

Currently, Lenexa high school students are split among four, that's right four, different schools - SM West, SM Northwest, Olathe Northwest and DeSoto. What would it take to form a new district made up entirely of Lenexa students? A Lenexa school district could serve as a unifying force for the community for years to come! Shawnee Mission is still a viable school district, but Olathe and DeSoto are making great strides. Where will we be in 2030?

Lenexa-Live-Learn-Relax..... When asked to come up with ideas for vision 2030, i tried to think of what my family needed and I wanted out of a community. So in thinking of why i like Lenexa, it resonates with a new city slogan.

This phrase helps to embody the spirit of vision 2030. A community should provide a place to live where you can get a good education. A place with great companies that provide income to the residents and provide the opportunity to enjoy all that a community has to offer. It also should provide places for people to grow as a community through recreation and community involvement. This area has great oppoprtunities to be developed into a premier community with the best life has to offer.

As a member of the education task force, I think the theme could also include education, e.g. Live Learn Work Play.
